Good day People of God in Christ Jesus. You are all welcome to another new day. Glory to God for the gift of life.
In our today’s episode 549 of studying and understanding the Bible, we shall be looking into the book of Ezekiel Chapter 12 titled:
You Need To Read This: You Are Living Among Rebellious People!
In this chapter, Ezekiel was made to understand that he was living among rebellious people whose hearts have been hardened. They have eyes and ears but could not see or hear, meaning that they were spiritually blind and deaf. In fact, Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy too about such people in 1 Tim 4:2 that they speak lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron.
They were so ignorant to the point that they claimed God will never allow those evil things that Ezekiel prophesied about happen to them.
They claimed Ezekiel had been prophesying repeatedly but nothing happened, so they were empty prophecies. They said they preferred to listen to other prophets giving them false hopes that nothing would happen to them. As a result, they continued with their wickedness and rebellious acts.
Did you know that many people are repeating the same mistake in our dispensation too?
We have so many ignorant people in our generation too who are saying there is nothing like rapture. That Jesus is not coming again. That Jesus is not real, but a mere myth sold to us to believe in.
As a matter of fact, many people also claimed that there is no way God would allow the human beings He created end their lives in hell fire.
Some even say there is nothing like hell fire.
A lot has been going on in our dispensation that is even worse than what was happening in Ezekiel’s era.
But then, in verses 21 to 28, God replied to Ezekiel to tell them that they were making a big mistake to think those visions and prophecies would not come to pass.
He told them they should stop repeating that proverb saying: “time goes by, and predictions come to nothing…”
In verse 22-28 God said He would put an end to that proverb, and it won’t be repeated in Israel anymore. Why? Because the fulfilment time has come.
This was the reason God instructed Ezekiel to practically demonstrate how these rebellious people would be taken to captivity by him dressing like someone going into captivity.
How did he do it?
In verses 3-4, He was simply asked to pack a bundle (i.e stuff that refugees or captives usually pack for traveling) and start out on a journey before nightfall. He was also told to tremble while eating and shake with fear when drinking as a symbol of anxiety and worry, when they would be surrounded by the enemies eventually. Read Ezekiel 12:17-20
He was to do that before nightfall in order to appear visible to these rebellious people and probably some of them would ask him where he was going and from there, he would remind them of the prophecies again about how they would be taken into exile in that manner.
So, he did exactly that and truly, they asked him why he was doing that and he told them he just demonstrated all the things that would happen to them if they continued in their wickedness without showing any sign of remorse or repentance.
Unfortunately, all these did not ring any bell in their ears. They did not believe the warning signs and they even claimed that even if the prophecies were to be true, they would not happen in their own time, so they were free to do whatever they liked.
No wonder God told Ezekiel to tell them they should stop saying that proverb that the fulfilment of the prophecies was as close to them as their nose was close to their eyes. Read verses 21-28.
Again, God has been sufficiently warning this generation too about a similar fate that will befall evil people of this generation if they refuse to repent. If the prophecies of old came to pass accurately, what makes us think the prophecies about end time and rapture will not also come to pass?
Remember the Bible says in Isaiah 55:10-11 that the Word of God will not return empty until it has fulfilled the purpose for which it was sent.
Why? Because the whole universe was created by the Word. Please read Hebrews 11:3
To be continued…stay tuned and stay blessed.
Let us pray:
I declare your life and everything about you is ordered by the Word of God for you to accomplish all the good things He has sent you into this world to do, in Jesus name.
Every good thing that God has said to you either through His prophets or through His Word to you, begin to receive their fulfilment now, in Jesus’ name.
