Good day Believers in the finished work of Christ Jesus. You are all welcome to another new day. Glory to God for the gift of life.
In our today’s episode 544 of studying and understanding the Bible, we shall be looking into the book of Ezekiel Chapter 4 titled:
You Need To Read This! Ezekiel Became A Drama Minister
In this chapter, we can see how Ezekiel kick starts his new assignment as a watchman. He was asked to act out the content of his message of warnings to the Jews. He literally became an actor on location.
One of the duties of a watchman is to watch out for impending dangers and sound the alarm for people to wake up and be ready either to escape from the danger or fight to defend themselves.
Again, just like Isaiah (who according to Isaiah 20:3-4, walked about naked and barefoot for three years as a practical demonstration of what would happen to Egypt and Ethiopia because of their sins they refused to repent from) and Jeremiah (who according to Jeremiah chapter 27, put on an Ox yoke around his neck to demonstrate how the people of Jerusalem should surrender to the Babylonians), so also here in Ezekiel Chapter 4, we can see how Ezekiel (right there in exile), was instructed to sketch Jerusalem’s plan on a tile (made out of clay).
He was further asked to construct some trenches, earthworks, camps and battering rams all around the tile and then he was asked to use an iron pan to set up a wall between him and what he had constructed. In this manner, it will appear he was laying a siege to the city he had constructed on the tile.
I have said it before when we were examining the book of Jeremiah that one of the best ways to pass across information to your audience is by practical illustrations. This will enable the message register firmly in the mind of the hearers.
Remember when Jerusalem was first invaded and some people taken captive to Babylon, some people remained – some escaped, while some were deliberately spared and all of them came together and resettled in Jerusalem, but still continued in their sin.
They thought there was no way that the Babylonian forces would return and even if they returned, God would defend them based on the false prophesies they had received in the past. Therefore, Ezekiel demonstrated to them that’s not going to happen that Nebuchadnezzar would return, capture the city and burn it down.
The remaining verses describes how Ezekiel was also instructed to practically demonstrate for over one year, how the Jews would suffer, with limited food and water.
The purpose of the message to them was that if they refuse to repent, there would be a siege and the aftermath effect of the siege would be famine or drought.
Lessons To Learn
Pride makes people think they do not need God and there is a huge consequence for that (James 4:6; Prov 16:18).
A life lived without God leads to spiritual famine and drought.
A life that keeps on rejecting the truth of God’s Word, is treading the path of destruction.
To be continued…stay tuned and stay blessed.
Let us pray:
- I declare, every satanic siege targeted against you and your family is hereby dismantled, in Jesus name.
- Every strategy of the devil to bring you down, is hereby frustrated and rendered to nought, in Jesus name.
- I declare, no one on this platform will experience any form of drought whether spiritual or physical. I declare you will continue to enjoy all the dividends of redemption, in Jesus name.
