An epistle is a poem or literary work, which is in the form of a letter or series of letters. In the New Testament, we see this represented in many of the books, which are a compilation of letters written by one of the Apostles to the Church. They were written on scrolls, reviewed, the delivered by a very trusted messenger.
Throughout the bible we find that we as Christians have been compared to many things. We have been compared to branches. I am the true vine, ye are the “branches”. We have been compared to salt. “Ye are the salt of the earth.” We have been compared to lights, “Ye are the light of the world.” We have even been compared to sheep “My sheep know my voice and a stranger will they not here.”
Here in II Cor. 3:2-3 we are compared to epistles. An epistle is a letter. You and I are epistles, or letters written with the spirit of the living God.
2 Corinthians 3:2 KJV
To be a living epistle means you are a living, breathing, walking letter of God’s goodness, glory, and grace!
“Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men”
Your life and business should be a testament of God’s Glory here on earth!
Some people may never pick up and read a Bible. You may be the only Bible that they ever see, so it’s so important that your life reflects the Word of God.
You may be the only Bible some people read…
You may be the only Jesus some people see…
How you carry yourself as a committed believer in Jesus Christ is as important as what you say. God is calling you to serve him in purity, motivated only by making a difference to others and living an exemplary life in the name of Jesus Christ.
Pure motives, not manipulative, not prideful, but simply behaving as the Lord would want you to do, with sincerity and a desire to served him and make a difference to others.
John 13:35 KJV
“By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.”
