Good day Believers in Christ. You are all welcome to another new day in another brand-new month. We thank God for the gift of life.
In our today’s episode 553 of studying and understanding the Bible, we shall be looking into the book of Ezekiel Chapter 16 titled:
This Is Shameful That She Was Caught In The Act
In this chapter, Jerusalem was likened to an unfaithful woman whom God raised from birth and got married to, only to pay God back by becoming promiscuous sleeping around with different men.
The worst part of it was that even the children she had with God were offered as sacrifices to strange gods. In fact, Ezekiel recorded that it was as if Jerusalem did not think being unfaithful was sinful enough. She compounded her problem by killing God’s children on the altars of idols. That broke God’s heart really bad.
The above is simply a parable. Jerusalem was the promiscuous woman. Her adulterous boyfriends were the foreign nations that led her into idolatry and all forms of immoralities.
Chapter 16 is a long one that addresses multiple subtopics under a single subject of unfaithfulness.
The first part, which runs through verses 1 to 34 provides us with an overview of Jerusalem’s humble and poor beginning, with no one to look in their direction to help them, but God took care of them and transformed their nation.
Unfortunately, they got carried away as described in the parable above and they became full of themselves. That’s why from verse 35, you will start seeing the judgement Ezekiel was pronouncing against them. That was typical of old covenant reality you know.
Let’s look at it this way:
As a man, you saw a girl suffering with no one to take care of her. You cleaned her up, beautified her life with all forms of adornment. She looked so beautiful, presentable and became famous and you eventually got married to her.
Suddenly, she took advantage of her beauty and your own love for her and started sleeping around with everyone who came along her way.
She did not stop there, she started bringing in foreign gods, building altars for them and sacrificing the children she had for you on those evil altars. She literally became evil. She completely forgot her childhood when she was suffering with no one to help her and you came to her rescue.
What would you do as her original lover? That’s what happened between God and mankind.
We were all once in darkness, in the miry pit of sin, but God brought us out, cleaned us up by the blood of His only begotten Son (Jesus Christ) and gave us the gift of eternal life.
In fact, I like the way Apostle Paul puts it in his letter to the Ephesians chapter 5:8
He says: “You yourself used to be in darkness, but since you have become the Lord’s people, you are in the Light. So, you must live like people who belong to the Light.
Are we truly living like people who belong to the Light?
There are evils happening nowadays in churches about how many church leaders have lost track of their callings, turned the churches of Christ into money making ventures and leading their followers away from God. They have put themselves in the place of God and people worship them instead of worshipping God. Some do this ignorantly, while some do it deliberately. In whichever case, the rescue mission of the church has already been launched and the Holy Spirit is doing a very good job in this end time.
This is why God is exposing so many of them lately as He has been doing before in the days of old and as a matter of fact, God is already retiring a lot of them and bringing in new, young, vibrant and God-fearing ministers who have caught the revelation knowledge of God in Christ Jesus and using them to liberate many souls from the slavery of these evil leaders.
God paid a very costly price to purchase His church and He will never allow an individual to destroy what He Himself built. The gate of hell cannot and will never prevail against the body of Christ.
The Holy Spirit is already opening people’s eyes, which was long promised by Jesus Himself according to John 14:26. The Holy Spirit has been busy teaching people the truth about God and He is inspiring people to serve God the right way, as the Apostles of the New Covenant did it during their own time.
Also read 1John 2:27 and you will appreciate what God is doing in this generation through His Holy Spirit. He is breaking shackles of spiritual idolatry in the heart of people. He is setting people free from their sin consciousness and putting believers where they rightly belong in God’s Kingdom.
Always remember this: the amazing anointing you have received from God is so much greater than the deception of these charlatans on the pulpits. This anointing lives in you. You are a carrier of God’s presence. The earlier you know this truth and work in it, the better. This anointing teaches you all you need to know about God in His Word. He will always lead you into all truth, not counterfeit. Please, remain and keep growing in Him.
To be continued…stay tuned and stay blessed.
Let us pray:
- This year is gradually winding up and we need to start taking inventory of what we have achieved so far this year and plan for the coming years. With God’s help, everything shall work well for us all, in Jesus name.
- Whatever it is you may be going through now, the Lord God will come through for you and you will have every reason to give thanks to God. Receive capacity to recognize opportunities and to key into them, in Jesus name.
- I want to use this opportunity to pray with married couples reading this message: your home will not scatter. Your love for each other will not die. The Holy Spirit will continue to sustain you with the wisdom needed to run your home, in Jesus name.
- Similarly, I want to pray with all single parents reading this. God’s grace will be sufficient for you. The Lord God will continue to help you carry the burdens on your shoulder. Remember, He is our burden bearer. Have faith in Him.
Rest assured that God is working something good out of your situation and you will testify soon, in Jesus name.
