Good day Believers in the finished work of Christ Jesus. You are all welcome to another new day. Glory to God for the gift of life.
In our today’s episode 543 of studying and understanding the Bible, we shall be looking into the book of Ezekiel Chapter 3 titled:
This Is Practical! Ezekiel As A Watchman Was Asked To Eat The Word
This chapter is more of a set of instructions to prepare Ezekiel for the prophetic journey. The truth is, before you can tell people about God, you must know God yourself through His Word. Eating the scroll is a symbolic demonstration of receiving the Word of God, rightly dividing it and letting it perform the purpose for which it was sent in our life and then we will be able to articulate same to others. Remember, you cannot give what you do not have.
The moment he ate the scroll (the Word of God), it was so sweet in his mouth – sweet as honey.
Apostle John experienced a similar thing in Revelation 10:9-11.
He too ate the scroll (the Word), in his mouth it was sweet as honey but getting to his stomach, it became sour.
What does that imply?
It implies that the Word of God blesses us and when we do wrongs, He corrects us.
It also implies that in preaching the Word of God, some people will receive it with their whole heart, while some will persecute you for doing that.
No wonder Prophet Ezekiel experienced some bitterness or sourness from the people he was preaching to. Remember, he was dealing with acidic and rebellious nation who did not regard the Word of God in their hearts. Kindly read verse 7-8 of chapter 3.
Despite their stubbornness, Prophet Ezekiel was encouraged to persevere in performing his duty.
Right there, while he was still receiving the messages, the living creatures responded with a shout of joy and in praise to God. Do you know why? Heaven rejoices when someone agrees to take up the challenge of spreading the good news of the Word of God. They are rejoicing for the many souls that would be saved through the Word.
Instantly, in verse 14, the Spirit of God rested upon Ezekiel and he was empowered. He became angry at sin. He became angry at the wickedness of men and he was ready to do everything possible to rescue them from their shackles.
Before we knew what was happening, Ezekiel was already there at Tel Abib, besides the River Chebar. That is where his fellow Jews were living right there in exile.
Getting there, he did not just start preaching immediately, he waited upon God again to know about the next instructions. The Bible says he waited for 7 days.
After seven days had passed, in verse 16, God then spoke to him – waiting time is over. Now is the time to commission him properly for the assignment ahead. Right there, he was made a watchman for the nation of Israel. He will be a spokes person for God, warning people ahead of any impending danger or when people are drifting away. If he warns them and they refuse to listen, their sin is on their head, but if he refuses to deliver the message as God has given him, he will face the consequences.
Pay attention my readers, every stage in doing God’s assignment comes with instructions. You need to learn how to wait upon God for you to know what to do next. Ministry work requires proper preparation. You do not just dabble into it, because you see others doing it.
You must know where and how to start. You must know when to speak and when to keep quiet.
You will discover that each time Ezekiel obeyed the instructions in a stage, he is taken to another new stage and each time there would always be a supernatural encounter and the manifestation of the glory of God. In summary, Chapter 3 is all about instructions and more preparation for him.
To be continued…stay tuned and stay blessed.
Let us pray:
- I declare, the steps that you will take for you to experience supernatural encounter with God, which will promote you to that higher level of manifestation of God’s power, receive it in Jesus name.
- Some people are reading this now and you have been going through some seasons of preparation. I declare, receive the grace to go through each stage successfully and emerge a winner, in Jesus name.
