Good day Saints of God in Christ Jesus. You are all welcome to another new day. Glory to God for the gift of life.
In our today’s episode 529 of studying and understanding the Bible, we shall be examining Jeremiah Chapter 39 titled:
There Is A Reward For Every Deed Whether Good Or Bad
Honestly, it really pays to do good and to obey God.
In Chapter 39, we can see how Jerusalem was eventually taken down, which confirmed Jeremiah’s series of prophecies and also debunked false prophets that have been giving all the kings that have reigned so far false hope, saying what God had not said.
Surprising to note is also the fact that king Nebuchadnezzar has been receiving reports about how Jeremiah had been advising Judah not to go to war with Babylon but to surrender to them and their lives will be spared.
Refusing this option means they wanted to sign up for suicide mission and that exactly what happened in verses 1-10.
To reward Prophet Jeremiah’s good and truthful service to God, king Nebuchadnezzar gave strong instruction about him.
In verses 11-14 he instructed the commanding officer of his vast army to look for Prophet Jeremiah by all means and to ensure no harm comes to him. He must be well protected (verse 12). They did exactly that by first releasing him from the courtyard prison and gave him a special care.
The concluding part of the chapter gives the account of how that Ethiopian man (Ebed-Melech), who facilitated the rescue of Jeremiah from the muddy dungeon was rewarded too.
Prophet Jeremiah gave him a prophecy that he would be saved because he put his trust in God and saved the life of a Man of God. Please read verses 17-18
- Lessons To Learn:
- Continue to do all the good things you are doing, even if no one sees or appreciates you. One day, you will be remembered and rewarded.
- Another lesson to learn is that it is only by faith in God (represented by Christ Jesus), that brings Salvation. Read 17-18 again.
- Zedekiah and many of his predecessors refused faith in God, they relied on Egypt but Egypt failed them. Always put your faith in God and not in man.
If you have more lessons to learn, kindly drop them in the comment section.
To be continued…stay tuned and stay blessed.
Let us pray:
- The Lord God will reward you without measure on all the many positive sacrifices and commitments you have made consistently over the years, in Jesus name.
- God is seeing your labour of Love, even though you may not have been appreciated the way you should have, but this season, the Lord God will announce you for greatness, in Jesus name.
- In the midst of challenges, your life and properties will be preserved, in Jesus name.
