Good day People of God in Christ Jesus. You are all welcome to another new day. Glory to God for the gift of life.
In our today’s episode 539 of studying and understanding the Bible, we shall be moving on to examining the book of Lamentations titled:
The Tears of The Prophet For His People; This is Touching!
I will only deal with this book in a summarised form because it contains majority of the things already mentioned in the book of Jeremiah. Besides, the book of Lamentations is just a sequel to the book of Jeremiah.
Let’s remember what we have learnt from the Book of Jeremiah that it was because of the persistent stubbornness of the people of Judah in engaging in idolatry and all forms of immorality that led to the invasion of their nation by the Babylonians.
The entire city was burnt down including the walls and the beautiful temple that King Solomon built which had been standing for over 4 centuries. Everything was down just like a dream.
It was then it downed on them that Jeremiah’s prophecies were real. Many people died and a large number was taken captive to Babylon.
This was what led to Jeremiah’s continued weeping and begging them to repent and serve God wholeheartedly. It was a sorrowful experience and moment for the weeping prophet.
The most pathetic part is the fact that those he was crying and praying for never even considered him an existing being to the point that they planned on various occasions to have him and his secretary eliminated to prevent him from preaching further messages of God.
That’s the extent of how wicked some human beings could be.
Are we not experiencing the same thing today? The few people standing on the pedestal of the truth trying to liberate many people from all forms of slavery, namely political, religious and other forms of slavery are those people being attacked now.
When you speak the truth to open people’s eyes for them to be set free, they see you as a rebel or a false Prophet or a fake Pastor and then they will continue to adulate their slave masters without questioning what they do under the assertion of “touch not my anointed” forgetting that every child of God is anointed.
And the fact that they have succeeded in brainwashing their followers, who are supposed to be joint-heir with Christ, they are the ones touching the anointed of God and of course they will pay dearly for that.
So, Jeremiah became sorrowful because they reject him and they rejected God. They rejected the truth and ignored all the red light warnings.
Looking at all the five poetic chapters in the book of Lamentations, their verses are acrostic in nature when you examin them using the original Hebrew texts. Acrostic in the sense that the writer begins the verses with each successive letter of the Hebrew alphabet.
For example, if I want to write the word Grace in an acrostic way, this is what you will see:
God’s
Riches
At
Christ’s
Expense.
That’s the simplest way I can explain acrostic for quick understanding. You can also form sentences in acrostic way.
Jeremiah had profound zeal for his people’s Salvation and he would do everything possible to communicate this to them. That’s why he used a lot of practical demonstrations like yokes, clay pots, linen etc to convey his messages. We have dealt with all these in our previous lessons and what they mean.
How does the book of Jeremiah and Lamentations apply to New Covenant believers?
The same way Jeremiah was weeping and praying for his people to be saved is the same way Jesus Christ was sorrowful and praying concerning His mission to save humanity.
The Bible says He was sorrowful and praying to the point that the drops of His sweat were like blood. Please read Luke 22:44
In medical terms, Jesus probably must have experienced what is called Hematohidrosis or Hematidrosis.
I consulted an Indian Journal of Dermatology, 2013 Nov-Dec; 58(6); pages 468-480. Here is what I found:
“Hematohidrosis is a condition in which capillary blood vessels that feed the sweat glands rupture, causing them to exude blood; it occurs under conditions of extreme physical or emotional stress.”
The same way Jeremiah was crying because his people rejected God and were serving idols and committing all forms of sins, Jesus Christ also agonized so much for us all. Even when He was about entering Jerusalem, He wept over it because He foresaw the destruction of Jerusalem which would be orchestrated by the Romans empire. Please read Luke 19:41-44.
Like I said God does not like it when His people suffer from the consequences of their disobedience. This is why Jesus came to offer once and for all Salvation route to all mankind that believe.
What more demonstration of Love can we get from God other than this.
Lamentations 3:22 says that the Lord’s unfailing Love and mercy still continue. Fresh as the morning, as sure as the sunrise.
Will you embrace that Love today?
Or all God has done in Christ Jesus means nothing to you?
No matter how far away you think you have gone from God, He is still knocking at the door of your heart. Make up your mind now and don’t throw any more tantrum. Let God fix what had been broken and you will see everything restored as if nothing ever happened.
Please, pray and meditate on Eph 1:3-14 and 2Cor 5:17
To be continued…stay tuned and stay blessed.
Let us pray:
I join my faith with all the ministers of the Gospel reading this message, and I declare: every tear and sweat you might have shed, every sacrifice you have made for the purpose of the Gospel of the Kingdom of God, shall not go in vain, you will be abundantly rewarded, in Jesus name.
I declare no one on this platform will share tear of sorrow, in Jesus name.
The Lord God will release upon you all the Spirit of wisdom to make you have a deep revelation of God the more and no one will be able to confuse or enslave you, in Jesus name.
Continue to bask in the joy of the Lord which is your strength, in Jesus name.
