STUDYING AND UNDERSTANDING THE BIBLE – PART 467
Isaiah Chapter 62 concluded
Yesterday, we looked into Isaiah’s description of God’s delight for Jerusalem in particular and to every believer in general.
God loves us so much that He promised not to keep silent and that he would keep interceeding until our righteouness breaks forth like the blazing light of dawn. This has been fulfilled when Christ died and resurrected to bring us eternal Salvation.
And we likened that to the kind of love a mother has for her children whereby she stops at nothing to ensure all her children are safe and secure.
Even though the Israelites have experienced many decades and centuries of wars, devastation and desolation, to the point that they accused God of divorcing/forsaking them and God corrected them that it was not not so and that it was the other way round.
This is why Isaiah says in
Isaiah 62:4-5 TPT
You will never again be called the Abandoned One, nor will your land be called Deserted. But you will be called My Delight Is in You, and your land My Beloved Wife, for Yahweh finds his delight in you and he married your land.
[5] As a young man marries the young woman he loves, so your builder-sons will marry you. As the bridegroom finds joy in his union with his bride, so will your God take joy in his union with you!
To give them more assurance that God’s promises would be fulfilled, God appointed intercessors for them.
This was a common practice among the Jews in those days. Soldiers were positioned on the walls of Jerusalem to monitor the city and also Priests were appointed to keep watch and pray to God in the temple on behalf of the Israelites reminding Him of the promises of Salvation and restoration as they read it from the scrolls as prophesied by various Prophets in Israel.
This was their major duty and that’s why they were stationed in the temple 24/7 to carry out this divine assignment.
However, in the New Covenant dispensation, we now have the Messiah (Christ Jesus), who intercedes on our behalf continuously. This is why our salvation/security in Christ is eternal.
Romans 8:34
[34]Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
Why would God do this for us? Because He loves us.
Isaiah 62:11-12 TPT
See? Yahweh has proclaimed to the ends of the earth: Tell my daughter, Zion, “Look, here comes your Deliverer! See? He’s bringing his reward, and his recompense goes before him.”
[12] They will be called His Holy People, The Redeemed of Yahweh. And you will be known as Those Whom God Loves, A City Not Abandoned.
To be continued…Praise God.
