Good day Believers in the finished work of Christ. You are all welcome to another new day in another brand new month of August. Glory to God for the gift of life. Happy New Month to you all.
This is Part 491 of our series of studying and understanding the Bible. Now, the journey begins for Prophet Jeremiah. We can call it “on-the-job training” in the prophetic.
Let’s quickly see his first vision that he saw.
Jeremiah 1:11-12 [11] Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Jeremiah, what seest thou? And I said, I see a rod of an almond tree.
[12]Then said the LORD unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it.
I want us to pay attention very well to the above two verses. God ensured that Jeremiah was able to see very well before he could speak. As a Prophet of God, you must ensure what you are speaking out to people, you have already seen it, in the light of God’s Word. Don’t just cook up any vision to satisfy your audience probably because of pressure.
All you speak must be the truth and you must have seen it first. In new Covenant dispensation, you must have seen it first in Christ before you speak it. If Christ or any of the Apostles didn’t say such things, then you have no right to say it. If it doesn’t align with Christ, trash it.
Remember Jeremiah was still undergoing training based on the verses we have read. So, what did he see?
A rod of an almond tree…
He could have seen just a rod of something else. But he had this spiritual eagle eyes that he saw exactly what was revealed – A rod of an almond tree.
Why was God training him in this manner?
God was simply teaching him the power of focus and concentration. If we as believers take our time to focus properly on God’s Word, we will definitely see well enough to speak the right words out of our mouth.
Unfortunately, what many believers are seeing or looking for nowadays are verses to release curses upon their neighbours. They are looking for revelations on miracle money, miracle this and miracle that.
How many of us have picked our Bible and prayed “Abba Father, as I read the Bible, let me see you…let me see Christ in it.”
If God should ask us on individual basis this morning the same question: what do you see? What would be your answer back to God?
We must also pay attention to the fact that God started in a simple way for Jeremiah so that he would find it easy to comprehend how to see things in the prophetic and not be confused with what he sees.
He didn’t start with a vision of a dragon with 7 heads of a lion and bear or any of those complicated visions of Daniel and John.
As a Believer treading the path of any of the ministry offices or gifts, we must learn to start small and keep it simple. Don’t run faster than God. Take it easy. Don’t compare yourself with others. Although we may all be heading towards the same destination but we all have different ways of preparation through different paths.
Let’s quickly do a few findings on the meaning of Almond Tree to know why God chose to reveal that to Jeremiah from the beginning.
The Hebrew transliteration for Almond Tree came from a root word called “Shaqad” pronounced as /shaw-kad/.
It means to wake, watch, awake, be alert. That’s why God responded to Jeremiah with the statement in verse 12 that:
“I am watching to see that my Words come true.”What a great assurance and relief for Jeremiah.
Who would receive such assurance and not swing into actions immediately?
As we begin another new month today, pay attention to what you see in the Word of God as He is still revealing a lot of things to His children.
We will continue from here in our next post by God’s grace.
Stay tuned and stay blessed in Christ Jesus.
Let us pray:
In this new month, I declare the Word of God will come through for you and your family in ways beyond your wildest imaginations to usher into your life a new season of extraordinary blessings, in Jesus name.
I pray that the Father of glory, the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, would impart to you the riches of the Spirit of wisdom and the Spirit of revelation to know Him through your deepening intimacy with Him, in Jesus name.
I declare that the light of God will illuminate the eyes of your imagination, flooding you with light, until you experience the full revelation of the hope of his calling, which is the wealth of God’s glorious inheritances that he finds in us – His saints, in Jesus name.
I pray that you will continually experience the immeasurable greatness of God’s power made available to you through faith. Then your lives will be an advertisement of God’s immense power as it works through you in Christ Jesus.
