Good day People of God in Christ and welcome to another new day. Glory to God for the gift of life.
This is Part 480 of our series of studying and understanding the Bible and today we are stilllooking into the book of Jeremiah Chapter 1.
THE CALL OF PROPHET JEREMIAH continued.
The second category of Prophets are those who were called after they have been born.
They were never Prophets before. As a matter of fact, they had their original business or profession before God decided to call them into the Prophetic ministry to carry out some specific assignments for Him.
Example of such is Prophet Amos. He said it himself here…
Amos 7:14-15
[14]Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet’s son; but I was an herdman, and a gatherer of sycomore fruit:
[15]And the LORD took me as I followed the flock, and the LORD said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel.
Let’s look at the Amplified version…
Amos 7:14-15 AMP
Then Amos replied to Amaziah, “I am not a prophet [by profession], nor am I a prophet’s son; I am a herdsman and a grower of sycamore figs.
[15] But the LORD took me as I followed the flock and the LORD said to me, ‘Go, prophesy to My people Israel.’
This is why in our dispensation, a university lecturer, an Engineer, a Medical Professional, a Farmer etc can become a Prophet by calling.
This category of Prophets can still run their profession sideways to insulate them from being bought by mammon.
The emergence of this category of Prophets (I.e those called by God), is because of three major reasons:
👉There is a necessity and God wants to fill the gap in a particular situation and God finds them suitable to fill the gap. In the case of Amos, there was an urgent assignment and the next available person was Amos.
👉Some might have been desiring it and praying to become one and God saw their sincerity to serve and then called them.
👉Another reason is that some were even born to be a Prophet and they didn’t know about it initially (the case of Jeremiah, who was located by God).
If you were born a Prophet and didn’t know, God can use existing Prophets to announce His call upon you. This can happen in crusades or camp meetings. It may be because of you that the program came to your location and when you attend, God will immediately locate you to announce His call upon your life through His mouth piece ministering at that time.
This is why you must handle every Believers gathering serious. You never know, it may be because of you and a few others like you that the program came to be.
