The Book of Proverbs Chapter 2…
We see in this Chapter, the Father continues to instruct His child about trying every means possible to acquire wisdom just as a treasure hunter looks for wealth by all means, the teacher instructs his pupil to look for wisdom in the same manner.
It’s a process. It starts with getting the required knowledge and then correctly applying that knowledge in order to become wise.
The teacher continues by listing all the advantages that would be accrued to those who have decided to acquire wisdom as follows:
He shall be happy and know what to do at the right time.
He shall be saved from wicked men.
He will not be seduced by flirting women or men and will always escape from their snares.
He will be a companion of good and upright people.
He will be in safety always and will be prevented from doing wrong things.
He will be kept away from the wicked – I.e. those who have refused the offer of a righteous life to live in the darkness of sin,
And the last verse talks about what will happen to the wicked eventually.
If we pay close attention to Proverbs Chapter 2 very well, it’s still talking about Salvation and the fruit of the Spirit in a coded form.
Knowledge is acquired by listening to and studying the Word of God. Obeying what the Word says and rightly applying it especially by accepting Christ gives you Wisdom.
In other words, anyones who hears the message of Salvation and receives Christ, receives life automatically and the Holy Spirit takes residence in such life. That’s Wisdom. Failure to do this, is what leads to eternal damnation.
The moment the Spirit of God takes residence in your life, you begin to exhibit the nature of God.
