Good morning Believers in Christ.
We give glory to God for the gift of another new day, we thank God for the privilege of life and for His unending mercy and grace upon us always. Praise God!
Isaiah Chapter 44
Today, we want to dig deeper into God’s true Love for us as mankind.
Here Isaiah is seen using Jacob or Israel to represent every believer.
Also, Isaiah is fond of using Mother’s love to figuratively describe God’s love for us. No matter how bad a child is, the mother’s love will always be there.
Carrying a life in the womb for 9 months, giving birth and nurturing the child until he/she becomes an adult (independent), is not an easy task. It can only be achieved through pure Love. Kudos to all mothers out there.
Likewise, Isaiah uses Mother’s womb for conception to figuratively describe how God conceived us and gave birth to a new us in Christ Jesus (Salvation).
Let’s read some verses…
Isaiah 44:1-2
[1]Yet now hear, O Jacob my servant; and Israel, whom I have chosen:
[2]Thus saith the LORD that made thee, and formed thee from the womb, which will help thee; Fear not, O Jacob, my servant; and thou, Jesurun, whom I have chosen.
Don’t be shocked seeing the word “Jesurun” used here by Isaiah. It only appears in two places in the Bible (The Book of Isaiah and Deuteronomy).
It’s Hebrew transliteration is called “yeshûrûn“ (meaning: an upright person) and it’s just a symbolic representation of the name Israel. So, whether you say Jesurun or Israel, you are still saying the same thing.
Let’s not forget how God transformed Jacob, a supplanter into becoming Israel, someone that rules as God, someone that dominates the earth.
This can only be possible through genuine Love of God.
That’s why God made a provision for our rebirth too in Christ Jesus.
And this is exactly what Jesus was explaining to Nicodemus during their night meeting together.
John 3:1-6
[1]There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:
[2]The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.
[3]Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
[4]Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?
[5]Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
[6]That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
In the above verses, we also see Jesus uses the Mother’s womb figuratively for the New Birth of every believer.
It’s a spiritual birth.
It’s a special birth brought about by water, which is the Holy Spirit.
Remember we looked into how Isaiah also used stream of water/river to figuratively describe how the Spirit of God fills our lives.
This usage of water for the Holy Spirit is consistent throughout the Bible – both OT and NT. The only difference is that in the OT, we see it prophesied, but in the NT, we see it fulfilled.
Let’s see how Isaiah describes the Holy Spirit in verse 3.
Isaiah 44:3 TPT
I will pour refreshing water on the thirsty and streams on the dry ground. I will pour out my Spirit on your children, my blessing upon your descendants.
Prophet Ezekiel prophesied about it in Ezekiel 11:19. Joel also in 2:28; more prophecies about this new birth of the Spirit also are found in Zachariah 12:10 and finally the last prophet of the Old Testament John 7:38.
To be continued…Praise God.
Let’s declare this together:
I have the new birth. God Himself resides in me through His Holy Spirit. Christ made this happen through the shedding of His blood. I am saved eternally. Glory to God. Amen.
