Good morning Beloved of God in Christ Jesus.
We give glory to God for the gift of another day, for the privilege of life and for God’s unending mercy and grace upon us always. Praise God!
The Book of Isaiah Chapter 29 concluded…
Yesterday we looked into the punishment Jerusalem faced because of their arrogance and rebellion against God.
However verses 5-8 explain how God came to their rescue by delivering them from their enemies.
Isaiah 29:5-8 TPT
Then suddenly, in an instant, your ruthless enemies will become nothing more than dust in the wind and your vile tyrants like wind-driven chaff!
[6] She will be visited by the Lord Yahweh, Commander of Angel Armies, with thunder, earthquake, and deafening noise, with whirlwind, tempest, and the blaze of a consuming fire!
[7] As quickly as a fading dream or as fleeting as a vision of the night, so will all the vast hordes of all the nations fade away and all who war against Ariel and her fortress disappear.
Note: the word Ariel has both literal and symbolic meanings. The literal meaning is taken from its Hebrew transliteration (ărîy’êl), which means “Lion of God” or Lioness of God.”
Anywhere you see “El” in the Bible, it means “God.”
The same word is also used symbolically for Jerusalem.
Now, let’s continue…
[8] Just as a hungry man dreams that he is eating but wakes up still hungry, or as a thirsty man dreams that he is drinking but wakes up weak and still longing for water, so it will be for the vast hordes of all the nations that fight against Mount Zion.”
We must not forget that in our previous studies, we learnt that anywhere we see Mount Zion mentioned in the Bible, it’s New Testament/Covenant reality does not mean the physical Mount Zion in Jerusalem.
Rather, it’s talking about the family of Believers in Christ Jesus.
Therefore, Isaiah uses these verses to prophecy about how God is going to judge the devil and his hordes on the last day and rescue His own children (Believers), while he uses Israel as a symbolic representation.
In verses 9-10 Isaiah switches again and talks about the spiritual blindness of Jerusalem.
In verses 11-12 He talks about their spiritual illiteracy.
Verse 13 explains why they were blind and illiterate spiritually…
Isaiah 29:13 TPT
This is what the Lord says about these people: “They come near to me with hollow words and honor me superficially with their lips; all the while their hearts run far away from me! Their worship is nothing more than man-made rules.
Note: if your heart is far away from God, there is no way you can understand His Word and neither can you know Him personally.
In verses 17-24, Isaiah talks about the promise of restoration for God’s people and punishment for the wicked.
Again, you will notice how Isaiah uses the nation of Israel as a symbolic representation of the whole body of Believers all over the world.
And his core message has always been about Salvation for those who believe and judgement for those who do not believe.
To be continued…Praise God.
Let’s declare this together:
I receive wisdom by the spirit of God, and revelation in the knowledge of Him. The eyes of my understanding are enlightened. My mind is renewed daily by the Word of God. I remain steadfast in Him. I refuse to be corrupted by satanic subtlety. Amen.
I call you blessed now and always.
