Good day Believers in the finished work of Christ. You are all welcome to another new day. Glory to God for the gift of life.
In our today’s episode 551 of studying and understanding the Bible, we shall be looking into the book of Ezekiel Chapter 14 titled:
Shocking Words For Hypocrites That You Need To Read
In this chapter, we can see how Prophet Ezekiel rebukes those who were claiming to be serving God but their hearts were far away from Him.
Their hearts were rather drawn to worshipping of idols and graven images.
According to this passage, some leaders of Israelites came to consult with the Prophet to know God’s Will for their lives, which of course is the right thing to do by every child of God.
We must all know the Will of God, our Father for our fulfilment on earth.
But the problem with these people is that they didn’t come to Ezekiel with a sincere heart. Their hearts were full of desires for idol worship. No matter how hard Ezekiel tried to convince them, they would not consent to his plea.
It can also be likened to someone who wants to study the Word of God, but is already reading his own meaning into the Word thereby preventing the Holy Spirit to do His job.
That’s the state of the heart of these elders. They already had their plans in mind. Their hearts were never right with God.
Apostle Paul said something relating to that in his second epistle to the Corinthians 4:4 that they do not believe, because their minds have been kept in the dark by the evil god of this world. He keeps them from seeing the light shining on them, the light that comes from the Good News about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.
But because of God’s Love for them, He revealed their intent to Prophet Ezekiel and instructed him to preach to them for them to repent and serve the only true God.
Notice that Ezekiel didn’t indulge them with sweet or flattering words like we studied in our previous posts where false prophets and prophetesses were flattering the people with false prophecies and fake visions for selfish gains.
And if they refuse to repent, then judgement awaits them.
Ezekiel also prophesied that there would be some that would listen and obey among the people and they are called “the remnants.”
They would be the ones to stay alive to tell the tale.
That’s why verses 22 and 23 give us an understanding that remnants shall be delivered from the wrath coming upon the whole land, which is typical of those who hear the Gospel and believe it for their Salvation.
Lessons To Learn
Every genuine minister of the Gospel must be able to tell people the truth no matter how bitter it may taste.
Note that it is not only until you carve a graven image as an object of worship before you are called an idol worshipper. The truth is, whatever you esteem higher than God in your heart has become an idol. So, we must be careful and allow our minds to be renewed as advised by Apostle Paul in Romans 12:2
When a sinner gets in contact with the Word of God, he or she must be convicted of sin for him to come unto repentance and not unto condemnation.
Failure to allow the Word of God do its proper work of repentance and salvation is what leads to condemnation at the end of the age.
To be continued…stay tuned and stay blessed.
Let us pray:
- I declare the Word of God will have free course in your heart and perform the purpose for which it was sent, in Jesus name.
- The Lord God will make His light shine in your heart, in your family, in your business, in your academics, in your career, in your marriage and in every area of your life. I command every trace of darkness to bow out right now for you to fully manifest the glory of God in your generation, in Jesus name.
