STUDYING AND UNDERSTANDING THE BIBLE – PART 454
Isaiah Chapter 55 concluded
Today, we will be looking into the remaining part of Chapter 55.
This portion describes God’s Way different from man’s and that although God is an invisible being (Spirit), yet made Himself visible to us through the Messiah.
So, Isaiah enjoins his audience to grab the opportunity of receiving God’s offer of Salvation expressed through His mercy and love, different from man’s way of showing mercy.
God’s mercy is unlimited, endures forever and is unconditional, while man’s mercy is limited, can run out anytime and is conditional.
Let’s read a few verses…
Isaiah 55:6
[6]Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near.
Like I said earlier, God, who is the Creator of heaven and earth is invisible. In fact, John confirms this truth in 1John 4:12.
But then, God made Himself visible and relatable to man through Christ.
Apostle Paul says the same thing in his first Epistle to Timothy.
1 Timothy 2:5-6
[5]For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
[6]Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.
Also this…
1 Timothy 6:16
[16]Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.
Essentially, only God is the immortal, and He lives in the unapproachable light of divine glory! No one has ever seen His fullness, but He made and makes Himself approachable in Christ. All the glory and endless authority of the universe belongs to Him alone from eternity past to eternity to come. Hallelujah! Amen!
Let’s continue with Isaiah 55.
Isaiah 55:6-13 TPT
Seek the Lord Yahweh when he makes himself approachable; call upon him when you sense he is near.
In the above verse, Isaiah is saying that people should receive Him in His approachable form of Christ. When you receive Christ by faith, you already have God in you and His true nature. And this decision needs to be made while you still have the opportunity now before the day of judgement comes.
[7] The wicked need to abandon their ways, and sinful ones need to banish every evil thought. Let them return to Yahweh, and they will experience his compassionate mercy. Yes, let them return to God, for he will lavish forgiveness upon them.
Note: in other words, when you receive Christ, God forgives your sins, breaks and destroys the nature of sin in you, and gives you His nature and you must continue to live and grow in this reality.
[8] “For my thoughts about mercy are not like your thoughts, and my ways are different from yours.
[9] As high as the heavens are above the earth, so my ways and my thoughts are higher than yours.
[10] “As the snow and rain that fall from heaven do not return until they have accomplished their purpose, soaking the earth and causing it to sprout with new life, providing seed to sow and bread to eat.
[11] So also will be the word that I speak; it does not return to me unfulfilled. My word performs my purpose and fulfills the mission I sent it out to accomplish.”
[12] For you will leave your exile with joy and be led home wrapped in peace. The mountains and hills in front of you will burst into singing and the trees of the field will applaud!
[13] Cypress trees will flourish where there were only thorns and myrtle trees instead of nettles. These will stand as a testimony to Yahweh’s renown, everlasting signs that will not be cut off.
To be continued…Praise God.
