Good day People of God in Christ Jesus. You are all welcome to another new day. Glory to God for the gift of life.
In our today’s episode 535 of studying and understanding the Bible, we shall be examining Jeremiah Chapter 45 titled:
Rewarded With Life-Saving Promise As A Secretary To The Prophet
Baruch was the secretary of Prophet Jeremiah, who helped him pen down his prophetic declarations and visions. He was a loyal and faithful man. He was also forcefully taken to Egypt alongside other Israelites that remained after the invasion of the Babylonian forces.
Note that chapter 45 does not fall in line with the previous chapter as it contains an event that has happened way before the invasion of Judah. So, chronologically speaking, the Chapters in the book of Jeremiah do not align at all. So, we need to follow along carefully.
In verses 2 and 3, we are made to understand that Baruch too also faced a lot of persecution alongside Jeremiah to the point that he wanted to give up but he persevered.
You can imagine having hand-written a full scroll of prophecies and it got torn by the king and you’re asked to start all over again to re-write the whole information. Indeed, the man tried.
The part that touched me was the fact that God was listening to Baruch as he was suffering and moaning about his situation and He then gave some words of prophecies to him through Prophet Jeremiah.
Do you know that God sees you in what you are going through?
He knows about it all. Everything going on in your life and in your mind, God has seen it all already and if only you can persevere and continue to serve Him and pray to Him, you will see the hand of God in action on your behalf.
No wonder Apostle Paul says in Ephesians 3:20 that God, through His power working in us, is able to do more than we can ever ask for or imagine (thought)…
So, God hears your thoughts.
Baruch has been serving God by painstakingly and faithfully documenting God’s Words coming through Prophet Jeremiah, which of course came with all forms of persecutions.
He was both physically and spiritually drained. Although he did not present his case very well to God, he thought God had forsaken him, but then the Bible says despite the judgement already pronounced on the land because of their sins, yet Baruch’s life would be spared.
This is typical of the message of Salvation.
In the sense that when God’s judgement shall come upon the earth, only those who have been saved, those who have been identified with God through the covenant blood of Jesus Christ, those whose sins have been purged by Christ, will have access to the Kingdom of God.
Those who have served faithfully will be duly rewarded as well.
Jesus Himself mentioned it in His beatitude in Matthew 5:12 (please read it). See Apostle Paul also in – 1Cor 3:8-9.
To be continued…stay tuned and stay blessed.
