Good day Beloved of God. You are all welcome to another new day. Glory to God for the gift of life. I declare you are changing levels and new things with new testimonies are coming to you this season and you will continue to escape from every satanic trap, in Jesus name.
In our today’s episode 509 of studying and understanding the Bible, we shall be rounding off chapter 19 of the book of Jeremiah titled:
Prophet Broke The Jar He Bought, This Is Why Part2.
Yesterday, we examined how Jeremiah bought a clay jar, took some elders of the land and older priests to the valley of Hinnom and broke the jar there prophesying that God would send disasters to them and kill them because of their consistent involvement in idolatrous and wicked activities.
Their sins were so terrible that they emulated the paganistic traditions of the Canaanites sacrificing their children at the altar of Molech, an idol they worshipped in a place called Tophet in the valley of Hinnom or Gehenna in the Southern part of Jerusalem.
This is how it’s done; they would set fire under Molech and because the idol is made of metal, it will be very hot and it’s at that point they would lay the baby in the hands of Molech and the baby would cry to death.
To prevent the parent of the baby or any sympathizer hearing the agonizing cry of the baby, the worshippers would beat their drums and blow their trumpets, dancing and celebrating.
What a terrible and barbaric act. See a sample picture below:
Here is another one
This was why God instructed Jeremiah to go and demonstrate the breaking of jar at that same valley, to demonstrate God’s judgement against sin of mankind, which is also a figurative description of God’s judgement on the last day.
Looking into many of Jeremiah’s prophecies including other old testament prophets like Isaiah, it appeared like an indictment against the true nature of God being a good God.
So, which category do you belong?
So, in this post, we will be examining further what has been God’s role amidst disasters and evils that happen to man on earth and some statements credited to God in the Bible, which many people have carried forward to our dispensation too.
The truth is that it’s not God that sends disasters. Rather, it’s a declaration of judgement, which can also be termed consequences of man’s actions based on choices man makes.
This is why…
In Genesis 2:16
16 He told him, “You may eat the fruit of any tree in the garden, 17 except the tree that gives knowledge of what is good and what is bad. You must not eat the fruit of that tree; if you do, you will die the same day.”
GNT
From the above verse, did God say He would kill Adam if he disobeyed? No. Rather, God simply said, the day you disobey these instructions, you shall die.
It’s like a Father telling his son “don’t go to the river to fetch water, because the day you go, you will be hurt.”
If the son ignores his father’s instructions, takes his friends, and heads towards the river and on their way, an evil animal waylays them and injures them badly and the son probably manages to escape. The question is, will he get home and accuse his father of injuring him?
The answer is no. He does not even need a prophet to tell him he has simply reaped the consequence of disobedience.
That’s exactly what happens in Eden and in every other place in the Bible and in our dispensation too, where we have had many records of evils happening to people and nations. They were all caused by human actions through the choices they make.
And the moment Adam and Eve sinned, that’s when problem began and since then, the entire world has been groaning looking for a way out.
19 The entire universe is standing on tiptoe, yearning to see the unveiling of God’s glorious sons and daughters! 20For against its will the universe itself has had to endure the empty futility resulting from the consequences of human sin. But now, with eager expectation, 21all creation longs for freedom from its slavery to decay and to experience with us the wonderful freedom coming to God’s children.
TPT
Also this…
12 When Adam sinned, the entire world was affected. Sin entered human experience, and death was the result. And so death followed this sin, casting its shadow over all humanity, because all have sinned.
TPT
Let’s again look at what Apostle James has to tell us James 1:13-17 (GNT)
13 If we are tempted by such trials, we must not say, “This temptation comes from God.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one. 14 But we are tempted when we are drawn away and trapped by our own evil desires. 15 Then our evil desires conceive and give birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.
16 Do not be deceived, my dear friends! 17 Every good gift and every perfect present comes from heaven; it comes down from God, the Creator of the heavenly lights, who does not change or cause darkness by turning.
GNT
Note: Only good things come from God. Not evil.
Now, another question is: if God does not cause evil or send disasters, why does he allow them to happen and why can’t he just stop them from happening in the first place?
We will deal with that in the next post.
To be continued…stay tuned and stay blessed.
Let us pray:
- The Holy Spirit will continue to guide you and prevent you from making costly mistakes that would truncate your purpose on earth. You will not fail God, in Jesus name.
- Every evil report about you and your family, is cancelled, in Jesus name.
- I don’t know where you have been told there is no way or solution again, but hear this: the Lord God will coordinate circumstances to make way for you miraculously and you will be favoured, in Jesus name.
