Continue to live in this reality, in Jesus name. You will not fall victim of any false teacher or prophet, in Jesus name. Happy Sunday to you all.
In our today’s episode 513 of studying and understanding the Bible, we shall be examining Jeremiah Chapter 23 titled:
Judgement Pronounced On Bad Leaders, This Is Really Mind-Blowing!
1 How terrible will be the Lord’s judgment on those rulers who destroy and scatter his people! 2 This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says about the rulers who were supposed to take care of his people: “You have not taken care of my people; you have scattered them and driven them away. Now I am going to punish you for the evil you have done.
Good News Translation
We can see here how Prophet Jeremiah pronounced serious judgement upon both political and religious leaders, who have scattered and destroyed the children of God by their actions.
At the same time, he made known the promises of God for God’s people who have been taken captive to Babylon. According to history, some even ran off to Egypt and other nations as refugees because of enemy’s invasions. God promised that He would gather all of them and bring them back home.
Thereafter, Jeremiah also prophesied something remarkable in verse 5 that a time is coming when God would choose for them a righteous King from the from the descendant of David. That King would rule wisely and do what is right and just throughout the land.
During His reign, people will be safe and live in peace. This King will be called: “The Lord Our Salvation. Verse 6
Without doubt, this prophecy was talking about Jesus Christ, which the Israelites, even His disciples, misunderstood to mean that Jesus was coming to hand over physical government back to the Jews from the hands of the Romans. Unfortunately, they got it wrong. Please read Acts 1:6 and you will find out how they asked Jesus when He would give the Kingdom back to Israel and the answer Jesus gave them.
“The real Israel are true believers in Christ Jesus; and the genuine Jerusalem is the Church of the first-born, and made free, with all her children, from the bondage of sin, Satan, death, and hell. All these exist only in the days of the Messiah. All that went before were the types or significators of these glorious Gospel excellencies.”
Adam Clarke
Apostle Paul also spoke about the fulfilment of this prophecy in his first and second epistles to the Corinthians 1Cor 1:30 and 2Cor 5:21. In those verses, Apostle Paul talked about every believer being in union with Christ and made righteous in Him.
Thereafter, from verse 9, Prophet Jeremiah switches from bad political leaders to false prophets and describes how crushed and trembling his heart was when he received God’s Word exposing false and godless prophets. As a matter of facts, in verse 11, he talked about how he caught them in their evil acts right there in the temple and then he pronounced judgement against them in verse 12.
Verse 13 describes the sins of the false prophets in the northern part of Israel (Samaria), while verse 14 described the sins of false prophets in the southern part (Judah).
They were busy committing adultery, sleeping with women right there in the temple. They were also telling lies and, in the process, helping others to do wrong. Jeremiah says, they were as bad as the people of Sodom and Gomorrah.
And so because they have spread ungodliness throughout the land, he pronounced judgement upon them.
As a matter of facts, getting to verse 33, God told Prophet Jeremiah to tell those godless prophets and priests that they have become a burden to the Lord and God was going to get rid of them.
You can now see that all the sexual assaults that have been happening in our dispensation among false prophets, pastors etc are just child’s play compared to what happened in the days of the Bible. But then, if these devil-incarnates refuse to repent, they will also face the consequences of their actions.
The truth is that in the Old Covenant, you can’t commit atrocities and go scot free. Culprits are judged instantly. But today, if you speak against any act of injustice among fake pastors and prophets, their victims will be the first to crucify you. Why? Because, they have been hypnotised by their slave drivers – their captors.
Therefore, we need to keep on praying for them that their spiritual eyes will open for them to be liberated completely from their evil captors.
Never forget that sin still exists too in the New Covenant dispensation. Sin has not died. If sin has died, we won’t be seeing fake pastors and evil people here and there. It was Christ that died and granted every true Believer power and authority over sin and the devil. The moment we receive Him, we are automatically dead to sin and alive unto righteousness. So, it is highly expedient we continue to live our lives in this reality.
To be continued…stay tuned and stay blessed.
