The fear of God is a concept that is central to the Christian faith. It involves having a deep reverence and respect for God, recognizing His sovereignty and holiness, and living a life that is pleasing to Him. In Proverbs 1:7, it says “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.” This verse highlights the importance of fearing God as the foundation of wisdom and knowledge.
The fear of God is not a fear that paralyzes or terrorizes us, but rather a healthy reverence for His power and authority. It involves a desire to obey His commands and to live in a way that is pleasing to Him. In Psalm 111:10, it says “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever.” This verse emphasizes that those who fear God not only have wisdom but also have a good understanding of God’s character and nature.
In addition to being the beginning of wisdom, the fear of God also brings blessings and benefits. In Proverbs 22:4, it says “The reward for humility and fear of the Lord is riches and honor and life.” This verse emphasizes that those who fear God and walk in humility will be blessed with riches, honor, and a full life. This does not necessarily mean material wealth, but rather a richness of spirit and a deep sense of fulfillment and purpose in life. Therefore, as believers, we should cultivate a healthy fear of God and strive to live in a way that honors Him.
Happy new month!
As we begin this new month, may we be reminded of the importance of the fear of God in our lives. May our hearts be filled with reverence and respect for Him, recognizing His sovereignty and holiness.
We pray that this month, we will seek to deepen our relationship with God and strive to live a life that is pleasing to Him. May we seek to obey His commands and follow His will, trusting that His plans for our lives are good and perfect.
May we also remember that the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. As we seek to grow in knowledge and understanding, may we always put God first and seek His guidance in all that we do. May we be like the psalmist who said, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding. To him belongs eternal praise.” (Psalm 111:10)
We pray that this month, we will experience the blessings that come from the fear of God – riches, honor, and life. May we walk in humility and seek to honor God in all that we do. May we be a light to others, showing them the way to a life that is full of meaning and purpose through our own example of living a life that fears and honors God.
In this Month of March, may you not the Fear of God in Jesus’ name.
Amen and Amen!
