Greetings to you all greatly beloved of God and welcome to another episode of our daily study of the Scriptures. We bless the name of the Lord God for the gift of life and for His benefits on us each new day. Praise be to God!
In our today’s episode 596, we shall be examining Hosea Chapter 13 titled:
He Who Thinks He Is Standing Should Take Heed, Lest He Falls
This chapter begins by speaking of the past of the tribe of Ephraim when they were still very much in the fear of God. Ephraim was a powerful tribe to the point that when they spoke, the other tribes of Israel were always afraid of them. As a matter of facts, many tribes looked up to them in many ways. In short, they were relevant.
Unfortunately, sin set in. They forgot about God and started worshipping Baal and that marked the beginning of their downfall. Read verses 1-3
God decided to send His prophet to them to warn them of the punishment ahead if they refused to repent.
God reminded them about what He did for their forefathers by bringing them out of slavery in Egypt and warned them not to have another god but the only true God. This pact was signed on mount Sinai in the book of Exodus when the Law was given. Sadly, they broke these laws and faced the consequences. Verse 4
Upon delivering this message by Hosea, the people of Israel refused to repent, they kept on increasing the measure of their iniquity. Read verse 12-13.
And that is why they faced a lot of calamities represented symbolically by the east wind which dried up their springs and wells; famine set in and everything of value was taken away from them. Read verse 15-16.
The truth is sin has no value to offer. Sin kills. Beware!
Now, in the New Covenant, Jesus came to remedy the situation; fulfilled everything and moved us from Sinai experience to Zion experience.
Now, as believers, we are in Zion, the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem with innumerable company of Angels. We are in the joyful gathering of God’s firstborn, whose names are written in heaven
We have come to God, who is our Father and the judge of both living and the dead and who perfected the spirit of good people.
We have come to Jesus Christ, who arranged and perfected the New Covenant for us with His blood that speaks better things even more than the blood of Abel. Read Hebrews 12:22-24
We have no connection with idols or any object of worship. We worship only the true God. He is Spirit and He lives within us. This is our testimony as believers.
And then, we must be careful the way we live our lives, because the enemy, the devil still prowls around like a roaring lion looking for whom to devour and I pray, he will not be able to get to you or any member of your family in Jesus name.
Let me close with Rev 2:5 (GNT)
Think how far you have fallen! Turn from your sins and do what you did at first. If you don’t turn from your sins, I will come to you and take your lampstand from its place.
To be continued…stay tuned and stay blessed.
Let’s pray:
I want to pray with someone reading this, I declare that God, by the power of His Holy Spirit, will prevent you from doing anything or taking any step that could lead to your doom, in Jesus name.
The grace to persevere till the end, receive it, in Jesus name.
In your journey with God, you will not stumble or fall. You will not go down. The top is your place and you will remain at the top, doing greater work for God and for your generation, in Jesus name.
