People of God, here is another episode of our daily study of the Scriptures. We thank God for His grace each new day as we present you with the rightly divided Word of God for your edification. It is our belief and prayer that you are blessed and edified as you read and study along with us.
In our today’s episode 568, we shall be looking into the book of Ezekiel Chapters 38 and 39 titled:
Gog of Magog Suddenly Became An Enemy Of God’s People
Contextually speaking, the Prophecy in this Chapter anchors on the victory of the people of Israel over Gog which appears to be ambiguous in interpretation.
But then, in this post, we will be carrying out some genealogy tracing from the beginning.
In Genesis 10:2, the Bible mentions Magog as one of the children of Japhet (i.e he was the grandson of Noah). This was corroborated by 1Chronicles 1:5.
Then Ezekiel 38:2 says Magog metamorphosed into a people – a land comprising two nations namely, Meshech and Tubal and these two nations were ruled by a man called Gog.
Tracing the nations of Meshech and Tubal, leads us to the present-day Moscow and Turkey, respectively. Modern day Gog is Russia.
According to Biblehub, the following people: Gomer, and Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech and Tiras, who were the sons of Japheth, all belong to the race now called Keltic, which is generally Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Cornwall, the Isle of Man, and Brittany.
According to Ezekiel 38:15 and Chapter 39:3-9, The people of Magog were called trained and experienced warriors – very skillful.
According to Ezekiel 38-39, Gog was simply a ruler and warrior ruling the nations of Meshech and Tubal and would lead these armies to attack Israel. Read 38:2-3.
According to Ezekiel 38:8,11, this attack will take place when Israel is at peace.
But eventually, on the mountain of Israel, Gog will be defeated in battle.
Majority of these battles recorded in the Bible were simply political wars among nations including the nation of Israel that will usher in the end time.
Many people would be killed to the point that the Bible says in Ezekiel 39:11-12 it would take seven months to bury all the dead.
Revelation 20:7-8 also gives us some further information about the battle of Gog and Magog.
The fact that the prophecy of these battles appeared in different places in the Bible shows that this prophecy is real and will still happen in the future.
So, the book of Revelation expanded further on Ezekiel’s prophecy about Magog to portray a final end-times attack on the nation of Israel (Revelation 20:8-9).
New Testament Implication
This implies that the devil is really waging wars against the children of God especially towards the end time in order to weaken as many as possible and probably cause them to give up.
But then, we have been assured through the Word of God that the devil and his forces would be destroyed, and Satan will eventually find his place in the lake of fire. (Revelation 20:10).
This is why you need to be identified with God through Christ. The assurance is that He will fight for you and your victory is guaranteed already in Him.
To be continued…stay tuned and stay blessed.
Let us Pray:
I declare God will fight for you. Your victory is sure and guaranteed. No force of darkness can molest you or any member of your family, in Jesus name.
Hear the Word of God for you: The Lord God will rescue you from all evil and take you safely into His heavenly Kingdom. He will continue to protect you from wicked men.
You will not be put to shame as this year is running to an end. You are favoured. You are strengthened. You are empowered. You are preserved, in Jesus name.
