Good day Saints of God in Christ Jesus. You are all welcome to another new day. Glory to God for the gift of life.
In our today’s episode 526 of studying and understanding the Bible, we shall be examining Jeremiah Chapter 36 titled:
Another Practical Lesson, Never Attack The Word Of God!
In Chapter 36, the editor of the book of Jeremiah is taking us back again to the early reign of king Jehoiakim. This event happened in his fourth year on the throne.
To preserve the words of prophecy that God has given to prophet Jeremiah, God told him to document everything in a scroll. Everything that God had revealed to him right from the time God first spoke to him till that present time.
This is very necessary so that people can have something to read and when they do, their hearts may be touched in order for them to return to God.
God cherishes documentation. Remember God told Habakkuk in chapter 2:2 to also document what He was revealing to him and make them plane on tablets so that people can read.
The same thing happened to the Bible we are reading today. Some people took the pain to document every word we see in the scriptures today as they were inspired by the Holy Spirit. Read 2Tim 3:16
Another reason that God wanted Jeremiah to write down the prophecies is because Jeremiah had been banned from entering the temple and he needed to keep on preaching God’s Word. Hence, the reason he re-strategized with the help of God and adopted writing method.
So, Jeremiah obeyed God and called Baruch, son of Neriah and dictated everything to him, while he wrote them all down on a scroll. Essentially, Baruch became his secretary.
Instead of Jeremiah going into the temple, Baruch would be the one to take the scroll there and read the message to the congregation. Hopefully, when they hear Baruch read the scroll, they may be touched and repent from their evil ways. Read verses 4-8.
Later, Baruch was invited to come and read the scroll to the officials, who after listening deemed it fit to let the king know about it. But before they could report to the king, they advised Baruch to go and inform Jeremiah that they must hide themselves because by the time the king would hear about it, he wont find it funny at all, because the scroll was loaded with bitter truths.
After a while, the king heard about it and the scroll was brought to him. The reader had also read a few columns and the king became angry, seized the scroll, and threw them into the winter fire. Without paying attention to the officials around who were begging him not to burn the Word of God, he used the entire scroll to light the fire until everything was completely burnt off. Please read verses 14-26
Because of this terrible action of the king, there was a prophecy for him that none of his descendants would sit on David’s throne and that he was going to die a miserable death. Why? Simply because of his unbelief.
This then brings us to the real reason people end their lives in eternal damnation – unbelief.
Finally, Jeremiah took another scroll following God’s instruction and re-wrote everything that was on the first scroll. How many of us could do that? This is beyond human capacity. That’s why 2Tim 3:16 says those who wrote the scriptures did that under the influence of the Holy Spirit because no human being could have done that with human brain.
Unbelief is a deadly sin. It’s the only sin that leads men to hell fire. The same sin that landed the rich man in hell fire while the poor Lazarus was in heaven on Abraham’s bosom.
Unbelief was what led to Judah’s invasion and the destruction of the temple that they some much adored and revered.
Are you still living in unbelief as you are reading this message? Amend your ways now and receive the gift of Salvation offered to you in Christ Jesus. God bless you as you take the decision today.
To be continued…stay tuned and stay blessed.
Let us pray:
- I declare by the authority in the name of Jesus, where you have been rejected before now, you will be celebrated, in Jesus name.
- The Lord will continue guide and lead you aright and whatever decision that will lead you to hell fire, you won’t make it in Jesus name.
- The Lord will brighten your day with His love and lead you to where you will be appreciated and blessed, in Jesus name.
- In any way your effort is being sabotaged, I declare the Lord God will expose the perpetrators and vindicate you, in Jesus name.
