Good day Beloved of God in Christ Jesus. It’s another brand new day.
We give glory to God for the privilege of life and for His unending mercy and grace upon us always. Praise God!
STUDYING AND UNDERSTANDING THE BIBLE – PART 466
Isaiah Chapter 62
Isaiah 62:1-4 KJV
For Zion’s sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth.
Note: Although the verse above appears to be directed specifically to the physical Jerusalem/Israel. Nevertheless, in a more generalised perspective, Isaiah was referring to all God’s people – every believer in Christ Jesus.
If only we can totally understand how much love God has bestowed on us, we will be able to appreciate it, appropriate it and also extend it to one another. Unfortunately, the type of understanding of God that many people have is merely superficial – very shallow.
It’s like the type of Love a mother has for her children that she does not want any of them to perish and would do everything possible to keep on interceeding for their safety/Salvation.
[2] And the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, and all kings thy glory: and thou shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of the Lord shall name.
Note: This means that other distant nations will see a new converted or saved Israel.
It also shows how the Gospel would spread across the whole earth touching every nation.
To be called by a new name in this context means to be given a new identity, a new life, a new nature, a new character.
Revelation 2:17
[17]He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.
Again, this is referring to Salvation in Christ Jesus, whereby old things are the past and all things become new. Just like what Apostle Paul says in 2 Corinthians 5:17
[17]Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Let’s continue with Isaiah 62…
[3] Thou shalt also be a crown of glory in the hand of the Lord, and a royal diadem in the hand of thy God.
[4] Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall thy land any more be termed Desolate: but thou shalt be called Hephzi-bah, and thy land Beulah: for the Lord delighteth in thee, and thy land shall be married.
Note: the above is just a figurative way of describing the relationship between Christ and the Church. For Christ to die for His church, what makes you think He would forsake His church (you and I)?
It can never happen and it will never happen. We have been engraved in the palm of His hands for ever. Amen.
To be continued…Praise God.
