Studying and Understanding the Bible – Part 417

Good morning Saints in Christ Jesus.
We give glory to God for the gift of another new day, we thank God for the privilege of life and for His unending mercy and grace upon us always. Praise God!

Isaiah Chapter 42 concluded…

From verse 13, let’s see how Prophet Isaiah describes our God in a heroic manner.

Isaiah 42:13-17 TPT
Yahweh goes out to battle like a hero and stirs up his passion and zeal like a mighty warrior. Yes, his God-shout is a mighty battle cry; he will triumph heroically over all his foes.

Note: This was fulfilled when Christ the Messiah carried our cross and was escorted out of Jerusalem to the place of the skull to die our death and thereafter resurrected heroically and granted us total victory.

[14] For a long time, I said nothing. I restrained myself and kept silent. Now I will groan, pant, and gasp like a woman in labor.

[15] I will level their hills and mountains and dry up all their vegetation. I will turn rivers into islands and dry up their lakes.

Note that Prophet Isaiah has been frequently using hills and mountains as metaphors for kingdoms, nations and governments.

A time is coming when the government and Kingdom of this world will cease to exist and the Kingdom of God will be fully established.

John wrote about this also in Revelation 11:15
[15]And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.

Let’s continue with Isaiah 42…

[16] I will walk the blind by an unknown way and guide them on paths they’ve never traveled. I will smooth their difficult road and make their dark mysteries bright with light. These are things I will do for them, for I will never abandon my beloved ones.

Note: Jesus confirmed Isaiah’s prophecy above in one of the Gospels. Let’s read…

John 16:13
[13]Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

Apostle Paul also said it in his Epistle to Romans 8:14

[14]For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Now, back to Isaiah 42

[17] But those who trust in idols, who say to their metal images, “You are our gods,” will be turned aside in total disgrace.

The above verse is self explanatory, which is referring to those who have rejected God and have decided to follow after graven images as gods.

Then finally, Isaiah uses verses 18 to 25 to explain how Judah was held in the Babylonian captivity as a metaphor to describe how the church of God has been held in the bondage of religious systems, from which the Messiah came to set them free and reunite them back to God.

Please and please, let’s take the time and with open mind read Paul’s letter below:

Galatians 4:3-11 TPT
So it is with us. When we were juveniles we were enslaved under the hostile spirits of the world.

[4] But when that era came to an end and the time of fulfillment had come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the written law.

[5] Yet all of this was so that he would redeem and set free all those held hostage to the written law so that we would receive our freedom and a full legal adoption as his children.

[6] And so that we would know for sure that we are his true children, God released the Spirit of Sonship into our hearts-moving us to cry out intimately, “My Father! You’re our true Father!”

[7] Now we’re no longer living like slaves under the law, but we enjoy being God’s very own sons and daughters! And because we’re his, we can access everything our Father has-for we are heirs of God through Jesus, the Messiah!

[8] Before we knew God as our Father and we became his children, we were unwitting servants to the powers that be, which are nothing compared to God.

[9] But now that we truly know him and understand how deeply we’re loved by him, why would we, even for a moment, consider turning back to those weak and feeble principles of religion, as though we were still subject to them?

[10] Why would we want to go backwards into the bondage of religion-scrupulously observing rituals like special days, celebrations of the new moon, annual festivals, and sacred years?

[11] I’m so alarmed about you that I’m beginning to wonder if my labor in ministry among you was a waste of time!

To be continued…Praise God.
