Good day People of God in Christ Jesus. You are all welcome to another new day. Glory to God for the gift of life.
Every spiritual slave master camouflaging as agent of light that is trying to enslave you or any member of your family through subtlety, I declare, be rescued form them all, in Jesus name.
I see someone being decorated with new clothes. I see enthronement or leadership position of some sort. I declare that person will not miss it, in Jesus name.
I declare the Lord God will meet your financial needs to the point that you will have more than enough to take care of your family, give to others and also to promote the work of God, in Jesus name.
In our today’s episode 524 of studying and understanding the Bible, we shall be examining Jeremiah Chapter 34 titled:
2-in-1 Prophecy for the People of Judah and Their King
Chapter 34 contains two prophecies:
1. In the first prophecy, Jeremiah predicted the siege of Jerusalem by the Babylonians, the capture of king Zedekiah and his eventual death and burial. You will find all these in verses 1-7. Remember, they ignored Jeremiah and said Egypt would come to their aid in case the Babylonian forces truly invade them. But to listen to Jeremiah’s option? It’s a no-go area. Little did they know that the Egyptians could not stand the forces of the Chaldeans. You will find out more about this when we get to Chapter 37. You will also find these stories in 1st and second books of Chronicles.
2. The second part of the prophecy was about the deceitful treatment of slaves. You will find this in verses 8-22. Here is the summary: The people of Judah and their king, Zedekiah made a covenant with God that they were going to stop slave trade, especially enslaving their fellow Hebrew. Well, they released their slaves only to take them back as slaves again after few days had passed. Read verses 10 and 11.
This totally displeased God and He therefore sent Jeremiah to them.
The above two prophecies were delivered when Zedekiah was already in his tenth year on the throne and was already rounding off.
Around 587 or 586BC, Babylon invaded Judah, captured Jerusalem and destroyed the temple.
Then a new covenant is promised in the lineage of King David, known as the Messiah.
Lessons learnt:
God hates slavery. If you pay close attention, slavery is still ongoing in our dispensation today, namely religious, academic, financial, political, domestic slaves etc. That’s why every child of God must know who they are in Christ Jesus to avoid being tossed here and there.
2. When God says there is a way to a matter, we must learn to obey completely without hesitation. The reason is that He knows more than we know. Even though the path may seem rough in the beginning, the end is always sweet and worth it. Why, because God has been brought into the scene.
To be continued…stay tuned and stay blessed.
Let us pray:
