Good day Beloved of God in Christ Jesus. You are all welcome to another new day. Glory to God for the gift of life.
Here is Part 490 of our series of studying and understanding the Bible.
The fortification of Prophet Jeremiah into the prophetic ministry.
Having commissioned Jeremiah by putting the Word in his mouth to enable him kick-start his ministry, God assured him of something I want us to pay attention to in verse 10.
Jeremiah 1:10
[10] See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.
The truth is that as a believer in Christ, in the course of fulfilling God’s agenda on earth, especially spreading the Gospel of Christ using every means possible, there are principalities, and evil strongholds that will stop at nothing to oppose the true Gospel. But guess what? God through Christ, has given us spiritual weapons and fortified us to subdue and overthrow them. It is now left for us to use those weapons.
That’s what Apostle Paul was talking about here…
2 Corinthians 10:4-6 [4] (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
[5]Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.
[6]And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.
Apostle Paul’s is seen here referring to centres of oppositions to the Light of the Gospel. Figuratively, Apostle Paul is seen here using prisoners of war taken captive to represent faulty patterns of thought that defy God’s authority.
In the course of studying the book of Jeremiah, we will discover how he faced a lot of oppositions and persecutions; several times he almost got killed, but God kept on saving him because of His promise for him from the beginning of his commission (read the promise again here in Jer. 1:10).
Remember, they did the same thing to Jesus Christ. Several times they tried to seize and kill Him, but He kept on escaping until the right time came for Him to finally die and resurrect. Apostle Paul faced the same challenges in the hand of these rebellious Jews.
It’s been long that the unbelieving Jews have at many times and generations proven to be rebellious against God’s Word and they have in the process murdered so many carriers of the Gospel right from the time of the Old Covenant to the time of the New Covenant – It has always been like that in the days of the Bible history.
Unfortunately, many unbelievers all over the world are already in the same band wagon with them. One cannot but wonder, if actually these unbelieving Jews serve the same true God as Jesus and many Prophets in the Bible, because of what Jesus said concerning them and their religious leaders here…
John 8:42-47 TPT Jesus said, “Then if God were really your father, you would love me, for I’ve come from his presence. I didn’t come here on my own, but God sent me to you.
[43] Why don’t you understand what I say? You don’t understand because your hearts are closed to my message!
[44] “You are the offspring of your father, the devil, and you serve your father very well, passionately carrying out his desires. He’s been a murderer right from the start! He never stood with the One who is the true Prince, for he’s full of nothing but lies-lying is his native tongue. He is a master of deception and the father of lies!
[45] But I am the true Prince who speaks nothing but the truth, yet you refuse to believe and you want nothing to do with me.
[46] Can you name one sin that I’ve committed? Then if I am telling you only the truth, why don’t you believe me?
[47] If you really knew God, you would listen, receive, and respond with faith to his words. But since you don’t listen and respond to what he says, it proves you don’t belong to him and you have no room for him in your hearts.”
This is why they hated and persecuted all the Prophets that brought to them the message of Salvation in types and shadows. If not because Moses was a tough man and also because of the grace of God upon his life, you’d have noticed how they would have made him land in hell fire, after they made him miss the promised land.
It’s because of this same stubbornness that made Moses make special arrangement for the law to be introduced in order to put them in check.
Originally speaking, God didn’t intend to relate with man through the law, He wanted just a simple relationship through His Grace (as we discovered in the garden of Eden). But then, the law was introduced because of their stubbornness in order to show them their wrongdoings, but it has expiry date…which is the arrival of the SEED (Christ). I have done various teachings on this in our previous studies.
Galatians 3:19 AMP Why, then, the Law [what was its purpose]? It was added [after the promise to Abraham, to reveal to people their guilt] because of transgressions [that is, to make people conscious of the sinfulness of sin], and [the Law] was ordained through angels and delivered to Israel by the hand of a mediator [Moses, the mediator between God and Israel, to be in effect] until the Seed would come to whom the promise had been made.
Now back to Jeremiah. It was because of this stubbornness and unbelief, which God has foreseen that made Him fortify Jeremiah ahead of time (in verse 10), because God already knew the kind of people he would be dealing with.
This same fortification, even a better one, has been given to every believer through Christ as examined by Apostle Paul in 2Cor 10:3-6.
Now let’s sum it up with how The Passion Translation version of the Bible analysed it:
We are empowered by grace and with the Gospel to dismantle strongholds.
We demolish arguments, opinions, theories, and philosophies.
We take captive every thought to insist that it becomes obedient to the mind of Christ.
We stand ready and willing to wage war and defeat the enemy.

Always declare the above to yourself to launch each new day and to always remind you who you are in Christ Jesus.
We will continue from here in our next post, God willing.
Stay tuned and stay blessed in Christ Jesus.
Let us pray:
Because you are a Believer in the finished work of Christ, I want to remind you and at the same time declare concerning you that your spiritual weapons have been energized with divine power to effectively dismantle all evil defenses behind which the devil and his cohorts hide to perpetrate evil around you and your family in Jesus name.
I declare you are empowered to demolish every deceptive fantasy that opposes God and His Word around you and you begin to break through every arrogant attitude that is raised up in defiance of the true knowledge of God, in Jesus name.
I declare you begin to capture, like prisoners of war, every thought and insist that it bows in obedience to the Anointed One, Christ Jesus.
I declare you and your family members are armed with powerful and dynamic spiritual weaponry, standing ready to punish any trace of rebellion against you.
Receive the grace to choose complete obedience in God through Christ, in Jesus name.
